Getting to know Beatriz Martín, aka @zigiella
Beatriz Martín is Chief Digital Officer (CDO) at BBDO & Proximity Spain and Director of the Master's in Data Science and Advanced Analytics at UIC. Her career has mainly developed in communication agencies and she is also linked to the world of education. Additionally, she belongs to and values learning communities like Agile BCN.
Her extensive knowledge about the Internet, the Metaverse, and the world of Big Tech made it clear that Beatriz was the ideal person to talk about it in this edition of Runroom LAB, especially after listening to her previous talk "What Metaverse or Metaversa" which we loved.
Introduction to the Metaverse, Web3, and decentralization
The Metaverse is a virtual world we connect to using a series of devices that make us think we are truly inside it, interacting with all its elements. In reality, it is not a new concept. We have already seen representations of the Metaverse in movies and novels. Currently, there are a large number of metaverses, especially in the gaming sector, although in the future it moves away from the fictional world and is proposed as an alternative and parallel reality to ours.
The path to the Metaverse materializes in the rise towards virtualization. And the possibility of the decentralized web, enabled by Blockchain, translates into a paradigm shift, not only technological but also in business and organizational models.
The transition to Web3 and immersive Internet will be gradual, but a thrilling technological, economic, political, and social transformation is already beginning, which will change the way we live, socialize, play, shop, work, collaborate, and organize through DAOs, decentralized autonomous organizations that encode the logic of the organization through Smart Contracts on the Blockchain.
